Social Studies Reflection

home

The chapter I liked studying the most this year was Chapter 18. This Chapter was about the how the war started. It was interesting to learn about because I learned how soldiers protected themselves, what they did if they got hurt. I even learned that women had an important role in the war.

Some of the things I learned in this chapter is women were very important to men when it came to them getting hurt or learning how to use some things. For men, women served as nurses, drove ambulances, taught the men how to use gas masks, and also worked in factories. I also learned that soldiers built something called Trenches. Trenches were huge ditches dug in the ground. Soldiers were hide in their so they wouldn’t get hurt, for the walls, there were sand bags. That kept them from being shot or wounded.

Skills that I have learned this year is map skills. I could never read a map. All those islands and curves were so confusing. In social studies, maps were a lot easier to read. We got to see some of the paths that people walked to go to another place. We also got to see where battles happened. Now when I look at map, I can identify where some battles happened.

Ways I can apply this skills to the real world is if I ever want to travel somewhere, I know where I’m going. I could also visit some battle fields. I want to be teacher so that could help me if I ever teach social studies. I chose this for social studies because it was fun to search all the answers for this webquest. (and easy)
